In Search Of The Sons Of Barnum
Hollywood legend Freddie Fields, producer of movies such as Millennium,
Glory, Poltergeist, Crimes of the Heart, Fever Pitch, American Gigolo,
Looking for Mr. Goodbar and Lipstick, talks candidly about his life and
times to a short plump ageing PR guru.
Freddie was also the founder of the CMA and former talent agent for
such Hollywood luminaries as Judy Garland, Henry Fonda, Paul Newman,
Peter Sellers, Robert Redford, Liza Minnelli, Ryan O’Neal, Barbra
Streisand, Steve McQueen and Woody Allen. He gave a rare interview about
his career and gave Borkowski an insight into what he thought about film
publicist Strickland Brand Rogers and Cowan.
Mr Fields proved to be extremely generous with his time and some of his
views on entertainment PR establishes a new insight into the craft. The
photographer who took the snap was later savaged by a Weinaramer
rejected by William Wegman; the stray mistook amateur snapper Steve
Jaffe for Mr W.. As the bleak portrait clearly demonstrates Jaffe lacks
the talent to nail the right backdrop to bring out Borkowski’s
warm-flannel skin.
