I’ve started a podcast… It’s called The Fame Formula

About a year ago, I forwarded a brilliant TikTok comedy sketch doing the rounds about a mysterious noise in London. At first, it sounds like an infestation. Turns out it’s podcasters. Apparently, you’re never more than ten feet away from someone, somewhere, leaning into a microphone explaining the world.

Which makes what I’m about to say slightly awkward.

I’ve started a podcast.

It’s called The Fame Formula

The Fame Formula was originally a book I wrote about the phenomenon of celebrity in the early years of the 21st Century. Fast forward, and fame is a much darker landscape, so in this first series I’ve recorded conversations with people who’ve experienced its downsides. I thought it might be time to lift the lid on the underbelly of it all.

I’ll be talking to some of the most interesting people I’ve encountered throughout my forty years deep inside the machinery of fame and brand publicity, all of whom have been at the epicentre of the forces driving modern fame.

So yes, I realise I’ve become the very thing the sketch warns about…another bloke with a microphone.

But hopefully, I capture stories worth hearing.
