The Great Jim Moran
It’s so difficult editing my book, the Fame Formula, as the final deadline approaches for the August release date. It all seems so ominous. The main problem is having to leave out all the Jim Moran stunts. During the picture research for my book, Alex, the library ferret, has turned up even more Moran exploits. Moran came up with a device to monitor terror using various scientific devices as part of a stunt to promote a number of horror films he was looking after. Moran shows a great talent for regurgitating the same stunt for maximum column inches. He publicized the 3rd year of the “Fanny musical” & tried to light a giant crepe suzette in a TV studio. The ensuing culinary efforts are hysterical. In 1954, he presided over an underwater wedding. Forget David Walliams’ swimming exploits for charity, Moran swam Lake Michigan on four occasions in 1958, 1960, 1961 & 1963 to help promote various clients. In 1970, Moran started tap dancing across the USA for the promotion of a musical film. There is so much more. Perhaps if the Fame Formula goes well, I can celebrate the life of Jim Moran in print.
