Hello and the Royal Wedding buy up.
Mark Phillips and Autumn Kelly’s decision to sell their story and wedding exclusive to Hello! magazine has caused such a level of furore that nearly every paper has had something to say on the matter. The wedding exclusive agreement with Hello! was on the understanding that no senior member of the Royal Family would be photographed, but in the 100 pages that covered the wedding, every one of the Royal Family in attedance appeared, including the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, the Countess of Wessex to name a few, naturally sending courtiers into a spin. Obviously Hello! did exactly what a magazine should do, left no stone unturned and totally exploited the situation. Now, all the fuss has created traction and far more people are actually buying Hello! to see what it’s all about.
What I find totally astounding is not the 100 page spread or the newspaper coverage, but the fact that Mark Phillips and Autumn Kelly sold their story and wedding exclusive to Hello! for only half a million pounds and that for this, Hello! got the whole Royal Family, seniors and all into the bargain. The advisors for the happy couple must have been amateurs to allow this; it’s unbelievable. Where was the donation to Charity? People have to manage every facet of the Royal Family so carefully, and all publicity for the higher level royals is done so well. Obviously the lower echelons don’t get quite the same standard of advice. I hope the newly weds are not touched by the curse of Hello!
