Can Phillip Schofield’s reputation recover?
The Times
The PR expert Mark Borkowski adds: “Many felt let down by his failure to be more authentic about who he really was, in his private life. So yes, there were questions about who the real Schofield [is]. That’s a task for clever PR, which never was applied.”
…
Can he reinvent himself? Borkowski thinks it is possible, though he should have done it sooner.
“Phil has stayed loyal to the [This Morning] format, which required a refresh. An intelligent move should have been to move away from the format some time ago. He is a rare soul who can helm live TV . . . [and] his divorce from the programme and Holly will be a long-term blessing.
“Schofield should lick his wounds, play the elegant ‘disappear from view’ card, and then see if the channel’s loyalty is more than just words cast at the height of the crisis,” he says.
